Another hit from the homeboys, "Keep Scheming" really epitomizes the collaborative efforts put forth by Dozilla. Having released their debut EP, The Perfect Strangers, in September; the duo, consisting of Norfolk sound artists Cordova and Skratch Zilla, did not hesitate to get back in the booth for some more track work (which is great for us listeners). Over the past year or so that I've known these guys, I have seen nothing but growth and undying chemistry... and this song annunciates just that.

Blu is about to release his first major album (if issues with Warner Bros. are resolved), No York!, in a couple of days... so, while we're waiting, he decided to [hand out free copies at Rock the Bells and] stream the entire album so that we can all indulge for free. The Find Magazine and I had a brief FB comment exchange about our thoughts on the album...

Oh yeah, the question I was asked was in response to my statement, "fuck expectations".

Fluent, as defined by the Oxford Dictionaries, means that whom/whatever you are speaking of can easily and articulately express his/it/herself... or is smoothly graceful with little to no effort.... or can flow freely as if he/she/it were a fluid. Most achieve fluency via repetition and experience, while others can achieve this same trait with more ease due to genetic inheritance or conditioning from a young age, maybe. Regardless of how this fluency is attained, it is (in part) what propels advancement and provides the world with what we know to be our physical/mental limits.

Prof.Logik, a Queens (NY) native currently residing in Spartanburg (SC), clearly exemplifies this quality (fluency) in his post electronic musical production. His unpredictable, celestially sound, galactic tunes are fitting in almost any circumstance; and with a bit of listener involvement, he can probably inspire you. After listening to the work from this 1984 buck, one may think that Logik's (musically) productional fluency is a product of nature... I would go as far as saying "you may be right".

Chin chin... to great music. Keep it funky!

This is one of my favorite mixes of the year... I, and you may, feel a smooth stream flowing through the volatile plains of a high powered brain... it's quite enduring in that it sets a tone so well captured by J-Hilla that it would be hard not to say that he has crafted a sound. The spontaneous, gritty, glitchy but constant and melodic essence of his style of dubstep is delightful enough to have it accompany you on a lucid day dream... put some L in it. Mad love, one of it.

I'm currently saving up for a new microphone (not quite sure which one either) because my SM-57 just isn't providing me with the sound I am looking for. Meanwhile, I've been writing more than I've ever written because I simply haven't been recording... with the exemption of tracks like this one, which I have been meaning to write to/record since last November. This one is a cover of a classic J. Live/Oddisee collaboration called "Once Upon a Mic" which was recorded circa 2007. J. Live released it first on his EP, Reveal the Secret in 2007; Oddisee soon followed with his release of it on the album (featuring production from FlyLo) 101 in 2008. I recorded this track with the utmost respect and appreciation for the inspiration these artists have provided me with... much love!
